Makele Waste Paper Recycling Initiative (M.WA.PA.R.I) is a climate change action project that engages students, church youth groups and community volunteers in collecting, sorting and recycling waste paper into useful products and raw materials.
The project promotes environmental conservation by reducing waste, minimizing pressure on forests and encouraging responsible resource use. At the same time, it empowers young people with practical green skills, entrepreneurship training and income –generating opportunities within the circular economy. Through active participation, youth become environmental stewards while developing leadership, teamwork and innovation skills that contribute to sustainable community development.
The initiative involves collection of waste papers from learning institutions and organizations using waste paper collection drop boxes and recycling into new products including wall marts , wrapping paper, packaging, decorative items , paper bags, etc
This helps to prevent waste and also conserves resources and energy when making products from scratch. By reusing waste materials, we prolong the lifecycle of the materials and reduce the carbon footprint of the manufacturing process
Both the children and the trees are to be nurtured well for a better tomorrow.
